Volunteers from The Rotary Club Santa Monica will gather at Saint Anne’s School this Saturday, April 5 for the second annual Rotary Day of Service to continue their “Legacy of Service” in the Santa Monica community.
Rotarians will arrive with gardening gloves, garden tools, paint, paintbrushes and rollers to plant, paint, and beautify Saint Anne’s school. Activities begin at 8:30a and will run until approximately 2:30 pm.
The school is located at 2015 Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica.
Tom Woods, event organizer and Rotarian said the project will benefit the students of Saint Anne’s.
“The idea is to develop an annual hands-on project that meets a real world need in Santa Monica, as well as raise the visibility of the work of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica, and establish a Santa Monica ‘Legacy of Service,'” Woods said. “It’s a lift to their self-esteem and pride when they can go to a beautiful place to learn.”
On Feb. 1, 1922 the Santa Monica Rotary Club was officially chartered as Rotary Club number 1086.
Rotary International is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world.
There are approximately 1.2 million Rotary club members belonging to 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
Rotary clubs address critical issues at home and abroad by providing health care and medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development, and education to millions of people in need.
