Santa Monica Woman Arrested After Assaulting Boyfriend Inside Apartment:

A 38-year-old Santa Monica woman was arrested on Thursday, May 8, after assaulting her boyfriend, then later attacked jail personnel.

At a time of day that was not provided at time of press, officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 1100 block of 10th Street in order to investigate a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival the officers spoke with the male victim who said that he had been lying on the couch when his girlfriend approached him and began yelling at him for reasons that were not apparent.

He added that this girlfriend then decided to place her knee upon his torso and hold his arms down while she continued to yell at him (again, the victim stated that the reasoning behind her yelling was unknown to him).

A short while later, he said, he had decided to go to the kitchen to sit down and eat some food that was on a plate.

The girlfriend then (he alleged) joined him in the kitchen, picked up his plate, and started to bang it on the table before she threw it out onto the balcony.

The plate was smashed to pieces. The girlfriend then, he said, began hitting the top of his head and when he held onto her arms she tried to bite the top of his head. The officers took note of the man’s claims and physical condition and then looked at the girlfriend, who they arrested a short while later.

This Santa Monica woman was charged with spousal abuse, and bail was set at $20,000.

Incidentally, while at the police station, the girlfriend assaulted jail personnel.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
