Santa Monica police arrested an aggressive Sacramento man on Wednesday, July 2 after assaulting a security guard.
Santa Monica Place security personnel alerted officers of the Santa Monica Police Department at 8:45 pm on this day that a belligerent and evidently unreasonable individual was in the immediate area and was in the process of yelling and shouting obscenities at mall customers.
The officers arrived and escorted this man off the premises after giving him a verbal reprimand in regard to his behavior.
The security staff then began to walk back to the mall. As they did so, this man snuck up behind one of them and punched him in the back.
This physical assault was accompanied by the question, “What’s up, punk?”
The security staff then re-followed the man until the police responded for a second time and put a stop to this violent posture by arresting this 31-year-old Sacramento resident and charging him with assault and battery.
Bail was set at $20,000.
