Main Street Santa Monica To Celebrate The Holidays This Saturday, Dec. 6:

Main Street in Santa Monica will celebrate the holidays by hosting a spirited extravaganza this Saturday, Dec. 6 from 6-9 pm.

The event will include 60 parties at participating businesses, a visit from Santa, a tree lighting with the Samohi Choir, a candle light walk, aerialist performances, and live music at the iconic Shopping Cart Tree at Edgemar.

Everyone is invited to kick off the festivities at Enterprise FishCo for a pre-party from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm during Happy hour.

Families with young ones should also arrive early to catch Santa arriving in his sleigh (a Santa Monica Fire Truck) at the California Heritage Museum lawn for photos at 5:15 pm — make sure to bring your own camera.

At 6 pm on the museum lawn the tree lighting ceremony will commence with music by the Green Brooms Music Academy and Samohi Choir.

Afterwards, Santa will lead the Candlelight walk to the famous Shopping Cart tree at the Edgemar courtyard, complete with music by Th3 Trips and The Off Their Jingle Bell Rockers.

Other attractions include a live performance by the band Dig the Kid at 220 Fitness at 7 pm followed by a holiday aerialist performance at 7:45 pm at the Robin Murez Art Studio on Main with music provided by the Tommy Sante Klaus band.

Everyone is invited to attend the parties as Santa strolls along the street and the carolers entertain at the parties.

“It’s a traditional event on Main Street,” said Anthony Schmitt, MSIBIA Chairperson. “A community celebration many people look forward to, and it’s continued to grow.”

Main Street (@MainStreetSM) will also be hosting a Holiday Decorations Instagram contest for holiday shoppers.

Merchants will put up holiday decorations (participants are listed below as well as on the website, www.mainstreetsm.com).

The business that receives the greatest number of user-generated pictures, using the designated hashtag #MyMainVoteSM, will win the first place prize; with prizes for the second and third place “vote” getters.

The person whose photo receives the most “likes” on his or her photo will be the winner and receive a gift package from Main Street merchants (donors to the gift package will be listed on the website).

The contest begins Nov. 28 and ends at midnight on Dec. 7, 2014.
