A 26-year-old Anaheim man was arrested on Friday, May 1, after getting into a scuffle then hitting a man with a bottle across the face.
An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department responded at 1:30 am to a report of assault with a deadly weapon at a hotel in the 100 block of Wilshire Boulevard.
The officer rushed to the scene and spoke with a witness on arrival.
The witness told the officer that the victim had been leaning against a planter when the suspect had walked past the victim and shoved the victim.
The victim had lost balance and fallen backwards into the planter, but as he was falling, he had managed to push the suspect in self-defense.
At this, the witness stated, the suspect had jumped into the planter with the victim and they had begun to fight in the planter.
The witness added that the suspect had been on top of the victim when the suspect had slammed a bottle across the face of the victim.
The officer found the suspect and arrested this Anaheim resident and he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Bail information was not available at the time of going to press.
