Whole Foods Market at 5th and Wilshire in Santa Monica will donate 5 percent of the day’s sales directly to Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation (SMMEF) this Tuesday, June 30.
Proceeds from the event will support SMMEF, which raises funds annually to support programs that ensure excellence for every student and school in the district. SMMEF-funded staff and programs include elementary arts education, instructional assistants, and enrichment grants for all 16 schools in the district.
Many schools use these grants to provide science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) or visual and performing arts programs.
Some schools also use these funds to hire additional health clerks, augment on-site counseling programs, or run other programs focused on student wellness.
“By giving back to the students of the Santa Monica and Malibu public schools, Whole Foods Market is investing in the future of our community,” said SMMEF Executive Director Linda Greenberg. “The funds raised will directly benefit SMMEF and we are thankful to Whole Foods Market for their commitment to education.”
