A 23-year-old man from Cheviot Hills was arrested on Friday, July 17, after ramming his car into a fence at Santa Monica Airport.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out at 7 pm to reports of a traffic accident in the 3000 block of Airport Avenue.
The incident involved a single vehicle that had collided with a chain-link fence, causing the fence to be propelled into a secured parking lot as well as bending three of the fence posts.
Upon arrival at the scene the officers spoke with the driver and asked him what had happened.
This man told the officers that he was confused and was having problems communicating with his parents so he had decided to make a statement to his family by driving his vehicle into the fence.
He believed that if he drove his car into the fence his parents would listen to him with more attention. Due to the fact that this man had deliberately caused (a financially unspecified amount of) damage to the property the officers arrested him and he was charged with vandalism. Bail was set at $500.
