Warning – Santa Monica’s Pico Kenter Storm Drain Open:

drain

Santa Monica City is opening the Pico Kenter Storm Drain this morning, with little signage ocean-side.

City bulldozers were on the beach early this morning observed resident Larry Price, contacting The Mirror about the situation.

Price said there is signage around the "pond" of drain overflow, but not close to the shore where swimmers can see.

The potted water is a mix of Santa Monica Urban Runoff Recycling Facility (SMURRF) overflow, high tide, and urban runoff, and swimming close to it can have dire consequences, water advocates have explained.
