Longtime Santa Monica attorney and noted community leader Joseph E. Deering will be honored by the Samohi Alumni Association with the prestigious Spirit of Samohi Award this Saturday, September 14th, at the Santa Monica High School All Class Alumni Day. Joe graduated from Samohi in 1964 and his accomplishments are too numerous to list here. Among the highlights of his career are President of the Santa Monica Bar Association, Professor at Cal State University, Judge Pro Tem of Los Angeles Superior Court and many years of dedication to the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Elks Lodge 906 and the Santa Monica Sister City Association.
The All Class Alumni Day is a hugely popular gathering of Samohi grads from classes that span many decades of history of this venerable 128-year-old school. Everyone will descend upon the “Quad” to catch up with old friends, make new ones and enjoy an afternoon of storytelling. The Samohi Marching Band, Choir and Cheerleaders will perform. D&J Delicious Food will be on hand selling their tasty hot dogs and tacos, or you can bring your own picnic – come for the fun and the memories and to honor Joe Deering. See you there!
