Woman treated for moderate injuries following Sunday incident

Santa Monica police are seeking two suspected wanted for stabbing and robbing a woman walking in the Sunset park neighborhood in broad daylight over the weekend.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD), on Sunday, March 14 around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a radio call for service near the 1300 Block of Grant Street.
“When officers arrived on scene, they located one male and one female victim with moderate injuries as the result of an attempted armed robbery,” said SMPD Lieutenant Rudy Flores. “The two victims were walking along the sidewalk when approached by two males attempting to snatch the female victim’s purse.”
The Santa Monica Fire Department was dispatched to treat and transport the female victim to a local area hospital where she was treated for moderate stab wounds, Flores said.
According to the SMPD, the suspects–both late teens to early 20s Black males–fled the scene in a black four door sedan last seen driving northbound on Euclid Street from Grant Street “at a high rate of speed.” Suspect 1, police say, had chin-length dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a light green hooded sweatshirt. Suspect 2 was last seen in a beige crewneck sweatshirt and was armed with a possible pocketknife. Both suspects were wearing face masks at the time of the crime.
SMPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects wanted for this attempted armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon or for security video that may have captured the incident. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Murphy, Nicole.Murphy@smgov.net or (310) 458-8491.
