Film Review Deadpool & Wolverine Movie

Deadpool is one of the wildest MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) characters with the foulest mouth imaginable. He is also one of the most efficient killing machines audiences will likely encounter, albeit with a soft and caring comedic twist. Were it not for the absurdity of Deadpool’s killing sprees, the over-the-top action, and the instant rejuvenation of victims and villains, this superhero/wannabe Avenger may be perceived as something far more sinister.

But alas, in this film review of Deadpool and Wolverine, two of the most loved characters in the MCU come together in a blistering cinematic spectacle with a runtime of two hours and seven minutes. What’s interesting about this film is that it’s a fusion of Disney and Marvel characters, and it works seamlessly.

Fans of the X-Men will not be disappointed. This one has plenty of pyrotechnics, with the iconic Pyro (Aaron Stanford) featuring alongside Deadpool. For those who recall, Pyro was one of the fiercest X-Men villains aligned with Magneto – the archrival of Prof Charles Xavier. Special effects fans will be doing back flips with this film because it’s jampacked full of action,

fiery finales, and scintillating CGI effects.

On a side note, game developer Pragmatic Play created a pretty realistic pyrotechnics-style attraction that complements the on-screen action in Deadpool & Wolverine with red-hot flames licking their way up the screen in a multi-jackpot fire-fest named Fire 88 social casino slot – we suspect it could be one of the games of choice for archrival Pyro featured in Deadpool & Wolverine! Fire 88 has got plenty of red-hot action like you’ll see in this blockbuster flick!

What to Expect from Deadpool & Wolverine

The film is expected to be the season’s blockbuster, and for good reason. It entertains from inception to the closing act and hits all the spots, save for romance. A notably older Hugh Jackman reprises his role as the badass Wolverine – a lone X-Men warrior, afraid of nothing and nobody. In this multiverse-style exposition, Deadpool’s opening act finds him at Wolverine’s grave. Of course, there’s lots of black humor in the opening salvo, with Deadpool playing with the remains of Wolverine’s Adamantium-infused skeleton.

It works because it’s Deadpool, and that’s what we expect from this outlandish, potty-mouthed warrior. Produced by Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and Hollywood heavyweights, this film packs a punch. Interestingly, the multitalented Ryan Reynolds also had a hand in writing the script alongside Shawn Levy, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Rhett Reese. This collaborative effort pays dividends with the slickest lines in the MCU. The biting humor is bang on target and works beautifully with Wolverine and Deadpool.

The official teaser does justice to this scintillating, action-packed comedy caper. Between its serious moments and laugh-out-loud hysterics, one never fears for the safety of Deadpool or Wolverine in this slugfest. There are numerous villains, heroes, and characters making appearances in this film, with occasional Ferris Bueller-style first person conversations with the audience, with Deadpool delivering blunt remarks about Disney and Fox, flitting between the real lives of the actors and the characters on screen. It works because it’s Reynolds, and we’ve come to expect this type of insanity from a Deadpool character.

The storyline is surprisingly well crafted. It begins in a parallel universe with Deadpool cradling the skeletal remains of Wolverine. We all remember Wolverine’s funeral – it was one of the sadder moments in MCU history. However, we have come to expect that everyone in the Marvel Comics universe can be resurrected at a moment’s notice. As it turns out, there are innumerable Deadpools and Wolverines in the multiverse; all that’s required is a portal to get there.

And that’s where characters like Dr Strange come into the reckoning. If you recall, Deadpool opened to rapturous applause in 2016, followed by Deadpool 2 in 2018. This one is six years in the making, and expected to be a megahit with a new generation of audiences who may not remember the original from eight years ago. There’s a villain or two – as always, and she’s pretty scary. She’s Xavier’s twin sister. But we won’t divulge any more info.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are Money Spinners for MCU

Incidentally, Deadpool raked in $782 million in worldwide takings in 2016, with a domestic haul of $363 million, and international takings of $419 million. The budget was just $58 million, so it was a smash hit sensation.

Deadpool 2 followed hot on the heels of the original, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. As far as sequels go, this one was a hit, with domestic takings of $324 million and international takings of $461 million, for a worldwide wall of $785 million. However, the budget on Deadpool 2 was $110 million.Nonetheless, a megahit for MCU and its domestic distributor 20th Century Fox.

Deadpool & Wolverine got off to a flying start on Thursday, 25 July 2024.While it’s still early days, this film is expected to blow up the box office!
