What’s Hot: One Woman Show ‘Mahmoud’ Comes To Santa Monica Playhouse:

MAHMOUD: Tara Grammy’s One Woman Show runs at the Santa Monica Playhouse Thursday

Fresh off of its award-winning Best of Fringe productions in both Toronto and New York City is “MAHMOUD,” a one-woman show about an aging Iranian engineer-cum-taxi driver, a fabulously gay Spaniard, and a young Iranian-Canadian girl, all trying to get by the day-to-day grind in a big metropolitan city.

The production opens this Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Santa Monica Playhouse and continues through Sunday, Jan. 27.

Iranian born playwright/performer Tara Grammy invites audiences to laugh, cry, and laugh some more as these characters’ stories intertwine over the course of an hour, exploring themes of displacement, immigration, home, and culture.

A guest production at Santa Monica Playhouse, the show returns to Los Angeles for three weeks only: Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 6 p.m. Admission $30.

The Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 4th Street, Santa Monica.
