Santa Monica Police Arrest Trespassing 60-Year-Old Homeless Woman: Alert Police Blotter: Go Free Or Go To Jail…Let Me Think?

On Friday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on the process of conducting a routine check for trespassers at 1447 11th Street (pertaining to a current authorization to arrest trespass letter has been filed by the owner of the property) when they chanced upon a… suspected trespasser!

This woman initially lied to the officers by attempting to convince them that she was an agent for the property owner.

The officers asked her for some identification to support this claim, however she was unable to provide any.

One of the officers told this trespasser that he would, on this occasion, give her a warning, but that he still needed some personal details from the woman before he could release her.

This woman responded by saying that she would not cooperate and then she began to walk away.

The officers warned her that if she continued to rebel against their authority she would be arrested and go to jail.

The woman stated that going to jail would be preferable than giving any information to the officers.

The woman was thus arrested for trespassing.

The bail for this 60-year-old homeless woman was set at $10,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
