A suspect was shot by a Beverly Hills police officer Monday, about two blocks from the Bank of America branch that was robbed.
The suspect underwent surgery and is hospitalized in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Fox11 reported.
The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel in the 300 block of North Rodeo Drive, Lt. Renato Moreno of the Beverly Hills Police Department said. He was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital.
The shooting was probably related to an earlier bank robbery in the 400 block of North Beverly Drive, Moreno said. No officer was injured.
ABC7 reported that a second suspect was in custody. The station also reported that a tracking device was inside the bag of money the suspect escaped with, but it was not clear if the device had been retrieved.
