Transfers Held Out Of WLA College’s Loss:

The West Los Angeles administration ruled that 20 football players who transferred to the school could not play in the opening game Saturday.

West Los Angeles lost to Palomar College in San Diego, 59-0.

Included in the group were linebacker Willie Williams, a highly-publicized former high school linebacker in Florida, and quarterback Boomer Wells, who has played pro baseball since playing for Santa Monica College four years ago.

West Los Angeles will have its home opener Saturday at 1 p.m. against Cerritos College. It is not known which members of the team will be permitted to play.
