The Palisades High girls’ basketball team has a new coach, Torino Johnson, and took third place in its own tournament.
Senior Taekela Hundtley averaged 15 points in five games as the Dolphins defeated Panorama, 61-8, Crossroads, 44-35, LA Adventist, 53-6, and University, 62-45. The only loss was to View Park.
Crossroads took seventh place in the tournament, also losing to View Park but defeating Louisville, 42-24. New coach Kevin Cormier has guided the Roadrunners to a 6-2 record as Crossroads defeated LA Jordan, 52-20, St. Monica, 54-47, and Bishop Conaty, 61-53.
Santa Monica, led by returning Ocean League Player of the Year Katy Keating and all-league Daisy Fedor, added to its fast start by defeating Brentwood, 51-42, in the Redondo Tournament. Jasmine Duckworth was Brentwood’s top scorer with 17.
Brentwood then lost to Fairfax, 53-50, despite 14 points by Duckworth and 13 by Crystal Goodwin.
