The Lady Vikings honored its seven graduating senior volleyball members during a pre-game ceremony at SaMoHi on Friday. Then the girls’ volleyball team took to the floor and cruised passed Ocean League rival Morningside in a three-game sweep, defeating the Lady Monarchs 25-5, 25-11, 25-4.
Morningside never really posed a threat the entire match, as SaMoHi (5-0 in Ocean League) jumped to double-digit leads early in each of the three games.
Returning to the bench after a brief illness, head coach Liane Sato rotated all of her seniors in the first and third games.
“Morningside is a lot better than they have been. It looks like they have a couple of athletes,” Sato said.
It was the third time in four days the Lady Vikings took to the hardwood; earlier this week, SaMoHi defeated Inglewood and Culver City. All three games were at home.
The Lady Vikings finish the year with back-to-back road games next Tuesday and Wednesday at Beverly Hills and Morningside, respectively. The regular season finishes at home on Nov. 2 versus Inglewood.
