Performances Of ‘Rent’ To Run At Santa Monica College May 25 Through June 3: SMC Performing ‘Rent’

The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts and Music Departments will present the Broadway smash hit musical and Tony Award-winning “Rent” –- the socially relevant and moving story of the struggles of a group of young Bohemians.

Performances will run May 25 through June 3 in the Theatre Arts Main Stage, located at 1900 Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica.

Winner of the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and 10 Tony Awards, “Rent” – with book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson – follows a group of young people on the Lower East Side of New York who struggle to create and survive during the rise of AIDS.

Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. A 2 p.m. show is added for Saturday, June 2.

Tickets range from $15 to $20. A $1-per-ticket service charge is added. The preview May 24 is $10.
