On Friday, July 6, at 12:33 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to Bloomingdale’s located at 315 Colorado Avenue, after they had received a report of a suspect who was in the custody of loss prevention agents.
When the officers arrived at the store the loss prevention agents told them that this female suspect had entered the store and had selected a wallet from a display.
The woman had then hidden the wallet inside a magazine that she was carrying and had walked out of the store without paying for the wallet (that was obviously empty).
The suspect was detained outside the store and the loss prevention officers recovered the wallet and returned the suspect to the store where she was detained until the arrival of the officers.
The suspect was placed under a private person’s arrest and charged with petty theft and a probation violation.
The bail for this 42-year-old Marina del Rey resident was set at $10,000.
