The Broad Stage presents “Tales from Around the World: A Tale of India” at 11 am. Join the event for a beautiful journey to India for a memorable folktale. Experience extraordinary music, dance, and vibrant colors for a stunning cultural adventure. SOL-LA Tales will further engage young audience members by asking them to participate first hand in the magic of the story. 2013 Parkinson’s Beach Brigade Walk-a-thon will be held from 10 am to 1 pm at Santa Monica Beach Park #1. The walk-a-thon will raise money for research and education of Parkinson’s disease. Registration fee is $25 and attendees receive a free t-shirt. 310.874.8722, parkinsonsbeachbrigade.org.

The “Children’s Tree of Life” 30th Anniversary Public Rededication will be held from 6-7 pm at the tree, located in Palisades Park at Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue, just north of the Santa Monica Pier. The Children’s Tree of Life was three times destroyed and three times replanted since the young sapling was first publicly planted at a 1983 Earth Day peace celebration in Santa Monica. It was officially declared a “living monument to world peace” by late Santa Monica Mayor Ken Edwards.

Barnes & Noble Santa Monica presents Caldecott award-winner Jon Klassen and noted ne’er-do-well Lemony Snicket for an enlightening tale of darkness at 7 pm. Meet both the writer and illustrator, and get signed copies of “The Dark,” “This is Not My Hat,” “Who Could That Be at This Hour?” This will be a wristband event. Social Bike Ride to Monarch Sanctuary will be held from 9:30 am to 12 pm, starting at Santa Monica Bike Center, 1555 2nd Street. Join Bike Center manager Ron Durgin, members of the Santa Monica Commission for the Senior Community, and other fun folks for the leisurely bike ride. Bring your bike, helmet, snacks, bike lock, sunscreen, and water. The Bike Center will provide complimentary bikes, helmet, and locks for those who do not have their own. Donate your bras between 11 am and 1 pm for the Clothes Line Project in the quad at Santa Monica College. Students and the public are invited to participate in the Clothes Line Project to help spread awareness on women’s violence. To get involved bring new or fairly wore old bras to donate or come and make a t-shirt to spread awareness. Donations will go to Sojourn Women’s Shelter in Santa Monica.
