A Marina del Rey man carrying a white umbrella was arrested on Thursday, June 19 soon after being seen smashing a rear window of a Volkswagen Beetle.
An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department who was on routine patrol responded to an open carport at 10:45 pm on this day that was located close to the intersection of Fourth Street and Bay Street.
The reporting party had said that he had seen a suspect wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a white umbrella.
This man, the caller had said, had apparently broken the rear window of a Volkswagen Beetle that had was parked in the open carport.
This man had then reportedly run away in a northbound direction on Fourth Street and then west on Pico Boulevard.
A SMPD sergeant who was also responding to the call apprehended the suspect in the 1900 block of Alley Number Two.
This 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with vandalism. Bail was set at $36,500.
