A suspect has been arrested after an officer-involved shooting in Long Beach early today.
Officers were sent to the 6500 block of East Rosebay Street just before 2 am in regards to a shooting that occurred involving a domestic situation, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.
While officers were investigating the incident, the suspect returned to the scene and was confronted by officers, then the officer-involved shooting occurred, with the suspect exchanging gunfire with officers.
The suspect was then able to get into his vehicle and flee the scene, initiating a pursuit that ended in San Pedro. There another exchange of gunfire ensued, Pratt said. Shortly thereafter, the suspect surrendered and was taken into the custody.
The distance of the vehicle pursuit was not immediately known, she said, adding that an infant was inside the suspect’s vehicle during the exchange of gunfire.
No one was injured. However, one officer suffered a minor injury from glass fragments from his patrol car.
A videographer at the scene said the pursuit ended near the intersection of South Bandini Street and West Oliver Street.
