KNX1070 NEWSRADIO and the American Red Cross are encouraging Southern Californians to roll up a sleeve and donate blood at the second annual KNX Blood Drive. The five-day event will be Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, 2015 at participating Red Cross blood centers, including the Santa Monica branch at 1450 11th St.
Blood donations often decline during the summer months, particularly around holidays. With school starting back up and summer activities coming to an end, there is still time for eligible donors to make a difference in the lives of patients this season.
“The American Red Cross continues to have an urgent need for blood donors of all blood types to give before the Labor Day holiday, even after many more donors stepped up to give following an urgent call issued in early August,” said Tony Briggs, American Red Cross Southern California Blood Services external communications manager.
The inaugural KNX Blood Drive last year was a success with 834 pints of lifesaving blood collected over two days with the ability to help 2,502 patients in need.
“KNX is proud to team up with the Red Cross once again as we expand our blood drive efforts,” said CBS Radio Vice President / Market Manager Dan Kearney. “We know the summer is a challenging time for people to think about donating blood, and we hope to raise awareness so our listeners will lend their support and help the Red Cross maintain a safe and stable blood supply.”
