A 25-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested on Friday, Aug. 28, after vandalizing his mom’s car while supposedly under the influence of drugs.
At 8:30 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to investigate a report of vandalism at a home in Santa Monica (undisclosed at the time of press).
Upon arrival the officers spoke with the victim who told them that she had arrived home and discovered her brother acting strangely. She said he appeared to be under the influence of narcotics of some kind. She added that her strangely acting brother then grabbed her house keys and exited the residence.
She told the officers that her other brother had then followed the strangely acting brother as he walked down the street. She said she then took her mother’s car, caught up with them, and told them to both get in the car.
The victim told the officers that it was after she had parked the car back at home that the strangely acting brother had got out of the car and had started to kick the passenger door repeatedly until it bent forward past the hinges.
The strangely acting brother had then walked away at which moment she called police. The officers went in search of this suspect and located him nearby. He was arrested and charged with vandalism. Bail was set at $20,000.
