38-Year-Old Santa Monica Resident Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges: Alert: Police Blotter: Not A Good Year

On Sunday, August 14, at 7:15 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department made the short journey (one assumes) to the front lobby of the department headquarters in order to speak with a victim of domestic violence who had arrived there.

The officers learned from the victim that she had allegedly been in an abusive relationship with the suspect for a whole year, and that on the previous evening, he had physically assaulted her when she had returned to the apartment in order to retrieve some property.

This had been followed up by the suspect leaving threatening messages, so the victim thought that it was a good time to report all of this to the police.

The victim showed the officers some minor injuries on her neck and shoulders that she had sustained as a result of the assault by the suspect.

Officers then went to the residence in question and saw the suspect attempting to leave before the police arrived.

The officers investigated and arrested this 38-year-old resident of Santa Monica for domestic violence.

His bail was set at $50,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com
