Brick+Mortar Celebrates Opening With Red Ribbon Cutting:

With every passing day, our world moves deeper into a virtual reality. Even Santa Monica hails itself as the “Tech Coast.” But certain things just cannot be experienced on a computer. Playing upon the moniker for tangible equivalent of all things virtual, the restaurant Brick+Mortar officially held its red ribbon cutting ceremony on May 1.

Dubbing itself as a contemporary American restaurant, Brick+Mortar quickly turned around the space that was formerly the Saluté Wine Bar.

The restaurant, which opened Feb. 9, is now fully open and its new lunch hours are officially in play.

Brick+Mortar advertises itself as being “tucked away in an enclave on Main Street” and is a “hip, brick, leather-boothed den” providing “a tasteful yet casual laid-back atmosphere.”

John Madigan and Laurel Rosen of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce hosted Thursday’s ribbon cutting; Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom was also on hand to welcome Brick+Mortar to the community.

A brand new lunch menu features the ahi tuna burger, a specialty Caesar salad, and specialty pizzas such as the mushroom, kale and ricotta pizza and the green curry chicken. Burgers and cheese boards are also available.

For those who want more than just food, Brick+Mortar features more than 200 liquors, 100-plus wines, 24 beers on tap, and 12 specialty cocktails on rotation.

The artistically inclined will appreciate a wall-to-wall mural above the bar area paying homage to Santa Monica’s history.

Brick+Mortar is located at 2435 Main Street. For reservations call 310.450.3434. Restaurant hours are Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Fridays 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., and Sundays 10 a.m. to midnight.

The restaurant is the first American operation for Travis Lester and Justin Safier; the two opened Bar Esquina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, under its Brosephs Restaurant Group banner. They are also planning restaurants in West Hollywood, Calif., and Texas.
