Cops Charge Man With Assault, Battery After Fight On Santa Monica Boulevard: APB: A “Man?”

On Monday, May 28, at 2 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a radio call telling them that a fight was in progress in the 200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

Several eyewitnesses had reported the fight was between two occupants of a green Jeep Cherokee.

The fight had started in the Jeep, but had spilled out to the street and the sidewalk. The fight was between a man and a woman.

The witnesses said that the man was punching the woman with great vigor in her face and also to the side of her head.

It was said by a witness that he was “hitting her like a guy.”

A number of these witnesses tried to stop this horrible assault, and attempted to detain the suspect until the police arrived, but that he had broken away.

This man then walked over to the Jeep that was still parked at 1300 block of Second Street.

The officers were then directed by the witnesses to the man, who was at that time standing in front of the Jeep.

The officers took statement from the witnesses, and also from the female victim (who desired that the man be prosecuted) and arrested this 21-year-old Los Angeles resident, and he was charged with assault and battery.

Bail was set at $20,000.
