Santa Monica Police Canine Unit Welcomes Belgian Malinois:

Rambo

The Santa Monica Police Department has welcomed its newest member to its ranks — all the way from the Czech Republic.

His name is Rambo, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois who has joined the the Canine Unit.

He is one of four canines owned by the City and will be assigned to Officer Roberto Villegas, a veteran handler for the Department.

Rambo’s day-to-day duties will primarily focus around patrol, but he will be cross-trained in explosive detection.

Rambo and Officer Villegas are both currently attending an extensive training program and will begin patrolling in December 2012.
