Santa Monica Police Arrest Couple Involved In Domestic Violence Dispute:

Santa Monica police arrested a couple in a dating relationship on Wednesday, Oct. 8 after officers were unable to establish who was the primary aggressor in a domestic violence dispute.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to a residence in the 1400 block of Yale Street at 12:50 pm on this day after they had received an emergency call about a report of domestic violence.

The officers sped to the scene in order to investigate.

Upon arrival the officers were confronted with a man and a woman who were still engaged in combat, so the officers separated the couple and took control of the situation.

The officers discovered that the two individuals were in a dating relationship and were cohabiting at the residence.

The officers noted that both the man and the woman displayed the signs of physical injuries as a result of their altercation.

The officers were unable to establish a primary aggressor in this case so arrested both the 22-year-old female of Santa Monica and the 24-year-old male and they were both charged with domestic violence.

Bail for each was set at $50,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
