Ten to 15 commercial customers in the Park La Brea area will be without water service until the afternoon as utility crews repair a 6-inch cast iron main that ruptured this morning.
The rupture at 7260 Beverly Blvd. occurred at 1:45 a.m. and caused moderate street damage, said Albert Rodriguez of the Department of Water and Power.
Water service was shut off at 2:30 a.m. to allow crews to begin the process of repairing the water main and street, which should be completed by 4 p.m., Rodriguez said.
One lane on eastbound Beverly Boulevard, from Poinsettia Place to Alta Vista Boulevard will be closed to allow for repairs.
It was not known what caused the water main to break, he said.
