A 47-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Monday, Aug. 24 after punching his partner.
At 2:20 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to a residence located in the 1800 block of Second St. in order to investigate a report of domestic violence.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with the victim who told them that she had been in an argument the previous afternoon with her partner.
She said that they had been arguing over their dog.
She added that her partner had been consuming significant quantities of alcohol and that later that evening he had struck her with his fist on the side of her face.
The partner, she said, had then left the residence for about an hour. She told the officers that when he returned he became angry once more and punched her again two more times in her head.
She said that she had then rushed to the bathroom and locked herself inside with the hope that her partner would eventually fall asleep.
The partner, however, did not fall asleep and began to throw all her clothes onto the floor while he yelled about her cheating on him. It was at that point she called the police.
The officers arrested the victim’s partner and charged him with domestic violence. Bail was set at $20,000.
