No Mother’s Day plans yet? Check out these great ideas::

Splurge

Indulge in a three-course brunch at the ritzy Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air where you’ll find classics like omelets and pancakes, along with a dessert buffet. If Sunday brunch isn’t in the cards, “Mommy and Me” afternoon tea takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 3-5pm. Brunch is $145 per adult and $65 per child. Reservations: 310.909.1644. 11am-3pm.

Spot Grunions

Spend Sunday evening sitting on Southern California’s sandy shore waiting for the “grunion run.” Grunions are small sardine-size fish of the silversides family, which are among the few species of fish that actually come ashore to lay their eggs on sandy beaches. They are found from Southern California south to Baja California and arrive at night after the high tide around the new moon and full moon. Cabrillo Beach is one of the better places to observe the fish. Watch the silvery fish come up on the beach to spawn! Learn about the interesting mating rituals and growth of this curious fish. At Beach Cities, Cabrillo Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro, CA. It is an all ages event that costs between  $1-$5. Warm clothing and a flashlight are recommended. The Aquarium opens at 8pm and an auditorium program begins at 9pm, followed by guided observation at the beach. Try Venice Beach for a more informal run.

Sail

Pick 1 of 3 Mom’s Day Sails to celebrate her on her special day. Perhaps the thing you’re looking for on Mother’s Day is a day out on the ocean. On Saturday you can have a scrumptious morning brunch while sailing the ocean blue aboard the traditional wooden schooner Spirit of Dana Point. Later that night you could opt for a cool Bioluminescence evening cruise. Or on either weekend day, you can take a whale watching adventure. This event is open for people ages 4 and up, where costs vary. This event is located in Orange County, Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Dr., Dana Point. Learn more at: ocean-institute.org/calendar/2016-05

Sing

Join the Golden Bridge Choir for “Sing My Soul,” a special Mother’s Day concert. The choir, now in its 11th year, is a Los Angeles-based, intergenerational, non-auditioned community choir specializing in joyful and exuberant harmonies from around the world. There will be an opportunity for the audience to join the choir in song. Bring friends and family and celebrate Mother’s Day in song. This free, public event takes place on May 8 from 2-3:30pm; since te event is free, reservations may not guarantee admission so arrive early. This event is located at the Central Library at the Mark Taper auditorium on 630 West 5th Street in Los Angeles.
