This past Saturday, the Camera Obscura Art Lab hosted a dance workshop titled Cultivating the Expressive Body with instructor Jeremy Hahn. Originally taught at the Annenberg Beach House, Hahn has brought this workshop, which combines meditation and improvisational dance, to the Camera Obscura Art Lab. Accompanying Hahn was guitarist and composer Eric Pham, who provided improvisational musical accompaniment to participating dancers.

Last month a California judge allowed a class action suit, filed on behalf of warehouse workers, to proceed against a subsidiary of Staples Inc. Among other things, workers said they were not being paid for time they spent – up to a half hour – standing in line waiting to undergo security checks. They’d have to go through the line when leaving for lunch, too, which ate into the time the 30 minutes they actually had to eat.

SOMA Arts Festival Turns 10:

SOMAfest 10 LA is week of workshops, performances, discussions and jams in Santa Monica, exploring and celebrating the myriad of Somatic Movement Dance practices, and is set to kick-off Tuesday, August 30.

Funds raised through the car show, which showcased over 100 classic cars, will be used to aid youth services and events that promote Chicano and Latino culture.
