Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement in light of yesterday’s tragedy at UCLA.

“My thoughts and prayers – and those of my entire staff – are with those affected by today’s tragic events at UCLA.

Santa Monicans will cast their vote for or against the LUVE initiative November 8, the Residocracy-backed initiative certified by the County Registrar-Recorder today.

In anticipation of a larger than normal influx of visitors to Santa Monica this Memorial Day weekend, traffic officers and city staff were tasked with directing traffic at busy intersections and in and out of parking structures to help keep streets downtown clear of gridlock.

Two people were killed today in a shooting at UCLA, prompting a university-wide lockdown, that has just been lifted, as police swarmed the Westwood campus in search of a possible shooter amid the possibility the deaths may have been the result of a murder-suicide.
