On Thursday, May 3, at 11:09 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called to a domestic violence incident that was taking place in the 300 block of Montana Ave.
Upon arrival the officers stood outside and were easily able to hear a fracas taking place inside the residence between a man and a woman.
The officers knocked on the door and declared to the occupants that they were police officers. After they had done this a man answered that door.
This man appeared to be the victim, and the officers removed him from the residence.
The officers then entered the building and detained the woman who was the suspect in this case.
The officers discovered this man and woman were husband and wife, and lived together at the location.
The man told the officers they regularly have dramatic arguments (insert couples therapist number here?), and that tonight was the same. He continued to say that on this night the argument had turned physical and his wife had grabbed a kitchen knife.
The wife had then proceeded to cut the husband several times with the knife about his hands and forehead. The wounds were minor.
The husband was not cooperative with the officers and refused treatment to the wounds.
The officers decided that they had enough evidence to arrest this 31-year-old resident of Santa Monica and she was whisked off to jail where she was charged with spousal abuse.
This woman’s bail was set at $50,000.
