The Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra, under the sponsorship of the Westside Music Foundation and MTAC Santa Monica Bay, will present a special concert today, March 23, featuring Russian music and – an annual highlight of the SMC Symphony programs – guest performances by outstanding youth soloists from Santa Monica High School and Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences.
The concert will be held at 4 pm in The Broad Stage at the SMC Performing Arts Center (Santa Monica Boulevard at 11th Street, Santa Monica).

Under the baton of James Martin, Director, with Assistant Conductor Fang-Ning Lim, the program includes Anatol Liadow’s “Eight Russian Folksongs” and Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov’s “Caucasian Sketches.”
The featured soloists are:
• Violinist Sebastian Carrasco, performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Concerto No. 5 in A Major”;
• Cellist Jeffrey Ho, performing Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33”;
• Oboist Mollie Bernstein, performing Joseph Haydn’s “Concerto in C Major”; and
• Trumpeter Isaac Horwitz-Hirsch, performing Alexander Goedicke’s “Concert Etude.”
