A suspected prowler escaped an aerial and K9 manhunt in Santa Monica’s North of Montana neighborhood Wednesday night.
According to Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Lieutenant Candice Cobarrubias, officers responded to the 400 block of Adelaide Drive around 9:10 p.m. for a report of a prowler in the back yard of a residence.
“We requested LAPD’s airship to help us locate the suspect. We also used our K9 units to search for the possible suspect. No one was found. It all ended around 10:45 p.m.,” Cobarrubias said.
A post on Nextdoor shows a man in a blue sweater in the back yard of a residence whose owner said the depicted individual was the subject of the police manhunt.
“This is the guy police are searching for right now,” reads the post. “He was in our backyard for a while. We don’t know what he was looking for but there are young children in our house!”
No further details about the prowler are available.
