Watch Out Birds! Lime Scooters Launch Today in Santa Monica…

Lime (formerly LimeBike) will be rolling out Electric Scooters in Santa Monica this morning. The Lime-S scooters will join the Lime-E electric bikes that the company recently launched in Santa Monica as part of the first smart multi-modal transportation service in Los Angeles county.

Lime-S scooters cost $1 to unlock and 15 cents per minute of riding. To celebrate our launch, Santa Monica riders can use the code “LIMEWITHLA1” to receive $3 ride credit towards trying out the scooters.

“We are launching in Santa Monica with our new Lime-S model, the most advanced shared electric scooter model of any mobility company in the country. The new scooters we’re rolling out in Santa Monica are designed with rider safety and enjoyment top of mind; with a longer lasting battery life, they are also safer and faster than any other model, which is why we’re thrilled to provide them for residents and visitors of Santa Monica to enjoy,” Lime said.

“We have partnered with many local businesses throughout Santa Monica to distribute the scooters on their private properties, not in the public right of way or obstructing any sidewalks.”

“In addition, to make sure our scooters are parked responsibly throughout Santa Monica, we collect them on a daily basis, charge them overnight and redistribute them the next day in approved areas so that they are on the sidewalks fully charged, maintained, and ready to be ridden every morning. This also helps us ensure that they are stood upright and parked responsibly so that they do not block pedestrian right-of-way or obstruct any sidewalks or roadways.”

To proactively educate riders on safe scooter use and responsible parking habits, Lime released this Matrix Video here and this Airline-Inspired Safety Instructional video here.

“We are the only company to produce rider education videos geared towards informing riders about safety and how/where to park responsibly.”

Watch this space! More to come….
